319613-001 HP Pavilion ze4200 Compaq Presario 2100 FF AMD Motherboard
I feel winter approaching each day as it get's colder and colder and were suppose to get a lot of snow this year which should be extra fun. Being stuck indoors more usually ends up with me doing twice as many laptop motherboard repairs... which isn't a bad thing.
Today a nice lady brought in her Compaq Presario 2100 because she broke the AC plug jack and it was cheap enough to just replace the system board rather than get jack repaired itself. I used the same notebook motherboard as the older one which was 319613-001.
HP’s manual says the following this part number 319613-001 "Motherboard (system board) - For Full-featured (FF) models that have an infrared port, IEEE-1394 (FireWire) standard port - Has a port replicator connector - Does not include processor".
Also compatible with the following computers: HP Pavilion ze4200 ze4300 ze4400 ze4500 ze4600 ze4700 ze4800 series notebooks and the Compaq Presario 2100, 2100AP, 2100CA, 2100US, 2101AP, 2101US, 2102AP, 2102US, 2104AP, 2104EU, 2105AP, 2105CA, 2105US, 2106AP, 2106US, 2107AP, 2108AP, 2110AH, 2110AP, 2110CA, 2110US, 2114EU, 2115AP, 2116EU, 2118AD, 2119AD, 2120AD, 2120AP, 2120US, 2125AP, 2125EA, 2128US, 2130AP, 2132RS, 2135AD, 2135AP, 2135CA, 2135US, 2136RSH, 2140CA, 2140US, 2144AD, 2145CA, 2145US, 2147AD, 2148AD, 2149AD, 2150US, 2151AD, 2154AP, 2155AP, 2155US, 2156AP, 2157EA, 2160AD, 2160US, 2161AD, 2161US, 2162AF, 2162US, 2163AF, 2164AF, 2170CA, 2170US, 2171US, 2172US, 2175CA, 2175US, 2176RS, 2178AF, 2178CL, 2179AF, 2180AF, 2180CA, 2182US, 2184AT, 2185AT, 2186RS, 2188CL, 2190CA, 2190US, 2195CA, 2195US, 2197CA, 2198CA, 2199CA, 2199US laptop PC’s.

Do you know what limitations or possibilities there are for replacing / upgrading the CPU in this model? It’s probably a 478 pin, right? Does it have to be an Athlon or AMD? My laptop (ze4545US) says that it has a Celeron 2.4 Ghz, but I was wanting to see if I could replace it with an Intel 3Ghz with 800 FSB.. Then, maybe I could use some high density memory sticks I have (1GB, 266 Mhz, PC2100, DDR SODIMM). HP says that this laptop will only run up to 1GB of memory (2x512Mb) and it seems to want the low density memory. I can’t even get it to boot with the high density stuff. I can find specs on a lot of MoBo’s, but not this one. Thanks!
