5U857 Dell Inspiron 600m and Latitude D600 Laptop Motherboard

Wow, what a busy weekend this has been. I just finished replacing laptop motherboard #5 for another customer. The last repair was for a laptop motherboard install on a Dell Latitude D600 laptop. Dell notebooks are very picky when it comes to laptop motherboards, so I installed Dell P/N: 5U857 which was the same part number of the old laptop motherboard.

Dell PN: 5U857 is the laptop motherboard replacement pn for most Dell Latitude D600 and Dell Inspiron 600M series notebook PC's. This systemboard features 32MB of Integrated On-board Video Memory... and the Dell 5U857 is compatible with X2033, X2035, H5935, U0996, W8212, Y4801, W1842 and D9237 laptop PC model's.

  4. If it was the full motherboard you wouldn’t get any power or lights. Check to see/hear if the cooling fans turn on when you press the power button. If not, it could of been not working for awhile and burnt out the processor. Try taking a memory chip out and using 1… sometimes memory can go bad causing the computer not to go back the post screen. Laptops get warm in general but if its HOT, it could be the cpu fan and heatsink aren’t working and you would have to open up your machine to see if damage spread to anything else inside. If everything seems right but you just get a blank screen then you may need a LCD screen and or inverter. Let me know more in detail whats going on and Ill be able to assist you easier. Thanks

  5. Hi,

I have a 600m inspiron laptop but the usb port has had a printer cable pulled out of it once too often. It is basically shot. Cant print or use my usb port. Am i sc…ed.
    thanks and regards

  6. Do you have at least 1 good working usb port. If so, get a USB hub that will let you plug in 4-8 things out of 1 usb port. If not you would need to solder a new one on or replace the laptop motherboard.

  7. Hello from Russia! Can I quote a post in your blog with the link to you?

I have a D600 that does not work on AC but if I put a good charged battery in it works great. I am told that it is a mobo problem and I need to replace the mobo. Is this the only thing it could be? I have a few of them so I changed the battery and it worked great until the charge was gone and it had the AC adapter plugged in, I tested the adapter on another system and it worked great. If it is the mobo do you have any idea where I could purchase one at a ‘reasonable’ price? Thank you, this is a great blog. Bob

  9. How do I determine which motherboard (5U857?) to order for my D600?

  10. do you know if 5U857 the current motherboard in your laptop? you might have to take the old one out first to get a part number with that series.
