Hey, great blog! Had a question about my Dell 600m Inspiron. At one point I spilled a glass of water over the keyboard, ever since, it won't turn on at all. I was assuming that the motherboard and possibly the power source was fried. I found cheap replacement parts for both and was wondering if it was an easy fix to replace myself? Do you think that would fix the problem or is the whole computer "gone"? Thanks for any help in advance.

I have a D600 that does not work on AC but if I put a good charged battery in it works great. I am told that it is a mobo problem and I need to replace the mobo. Is this the only thing it could be? I have a few of them so I changed the battery and it worked great until the charge was gone and it had the AC adapter plugged in, I tested the adapter on another system and it worked great. If it is the mobo do you have any idea where I could purchase one at a 'reasonable' price? Thank you, this is a great blog. Bob

Do you have at least 1 good working usb port. If so, get a USB hub that will let you plug in 4-8 things out of 1 usb port. If not you would need to solder a new one on or replace the laptop motherboard.

If it was the full motherboard you wouldn't get any power or lights. Check to see/hear if the cooling fans turn on when you press the power button. If not, it could of been not working for awhile and burnt out the processor. Try taking a memory chip out and using 1... sometimes memory can go bad causing the computer not to go back the post screen. Laptops get warm in general but if its HOT, it could be the cpu fan and heatsink aren't working and you would have to open up your machine to see if damage spread to anything else inside. If everything seems right but you just get a blank screen then you may need a LCD screen and or inverter. Let me know more in detail whats going on and Ill be able to assist you easier. Thanks
