KN548 Dell Inspiron 1400 1420 Dell Vostro 1400 Intel Motherboard 0KN548
Dell laptops are becoming more and more popular to the average computer user which would explain the sudden increase in customers bringing their Dell notebook into my shop to have it fixed regardless of the problem. Most recent was a systemboard swap on a Dell Inspiron 1400 series laptop which I replaced with the same part # off the old main board.
That part number was KN548 also seen sometimes as 0KN548. This specific laptop motherboard comes and was made with and includes the onboard Intel video graphics chipset. Other notable features I saw on this computer systemboard was four USB ports, a firewire port, ethernet port, 56k modem, 8 in 1 memory reader, a express card slot, VGA / S-Video output port and headphone/microphone jacks.
Dell Mainboard Part Number KN548 Is Only Compatible With The Following Notebook Series: Dell Inspiron 1400, 1420 and Dell Vostro 1400 laptop PC's ONLY that are already using Intel graphics.
*You can also use part no. 0UX283 / UX283 which still works in the same Dell Inspiron and Vostro 1400 model laptops but use's nVIDIA on-board graphics. I would only recommend this to advanced computer user's as you would need to change the CPU, heatsink and the fan in order to install this motherboard properly.
I want to replace the UX283 motherboard of my Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop with the KN548 motherboard. Can my existing CPU be used and also does the Intel VGA chip required a heatsink? I would appreciate if you could advise me what exactly are the parts to replace and the cost for them.
