A Few Quick Basic Tips And Guidelines For Anyone New To The Laptop Market

With all the laptop computer available today... sometimes it's hard to know just what all these specification's mean considering laptop's are becoming more advanced by the day. These are just some basic guidelines to follow for anyone confused on the newer laptop chips and terms used now.

A Intel or AMD processor running at 1.8GHz-2.0GHz is more than enough for office applications, email, web-surfing and basic gaming.

If your a huge fan of PC Games then I would shop around for a IntelĀ  or AMD dual core processor at minimum. To put it in easy terms, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core is roughly equivalent to the corresponding Intel Core 2 Duo processor speed.

Longer battery life usually means heavier laptops, so make your choice based on your mobility needs and keep the size of the display in mind. You can always buy an additional extended-life battery for your laptop for any occasional or travel needs.

Today's operating systems are much more advanced than the past and require a decent amount of hard drive space to work with. Look for at least a 160GB hard drive to avoid having to upgrade too soon. Believe it or not Microsoft Windows Vista requires at least 15GB of hard disk space and Microsoft Office 2007 requires 5GB of space!

Factor in any music, videos and picture's you want to store and space can fill up fast. Before buying, figure out which operating system you want and need as that could increase/decrease the price by a nice amount.
