Understanding Laptop Motherboards and System Boards
Your laptop was configured to support a specific motherboard (system board). When something unfortunate happens and you need to replace your laptop motherboard, start out by searching for the same exact make, model and part number on you current notebook motherboard on the internet. For example: eBay, Amazon, Google etc... are excellent starting places to find any laptop motherboard or replacement laptop part.

The main purpose of a laptop motherboard is to send instructions and commands to all the computers internal components. A laptop motherboard controls your whole laptop PC and just about everything relates back to laptop motherboards. To make it easy, essentially it's your notebook's brain which every laptop computer can't run without. The system board allows your operating system to communicate with computer peripheral devices, such as the mouse, keyboard, touchpad, 10/100/1000 and wireless network connections. Other useful features that are usually standard on laptop motherboards include expansion slots for audio sound, video graphics cards and memory module slots.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The biggest misunderstanding over replacing your laptop motherboard is the C.P.U. they use, require and speed (GHz) it supports. I personally never bothered upgrading a laptop cpu because original laptop motherboards could handle only a very slightly faster chip (for example - if you currently have a Mobile Pentium 4 2.0GHz, the most you could upgrade to would be approximately a Mobile Pentium 4 2.2Ghz. Make sure 100% that your motherboard will support your current hard drive, optical drives and has all the essentials needed for all your peripherals.

I need a mother board part number dl3up1481aaa
Which brand computer and what model do you exactly have. The number you put is to general to tell you which laptop motherboard you 100% need. Thanks for writing.
What is the difference between a fully featured and defeatured motherboard? And is there anyway I could buy the same exact model numbered board but have a different graphics card on it?
Thanx for your time : )
full featured usually will come more complete with extra ports and better graphics cards overall. the lower end model’s for each board they call defeatured which costs less money but will have less ports and usually a lower end video card. a FF might include HDMI ports while the DF would not for example. usually laptop motherboard video cards are not interchangeable. thanks for writing.
That is the panasonic part number from off of the mobo. The laptop is a cf 51 toughbook.
Hello!
I must say that http://www.laptopmotherboard.org is a nice forum!
I spent a lot of hours seeking for a forum relevant to my interests.
Finally, I came across this board!
Excuse me if “http://www.laptopmotherboard.org/tips/understanding-laptop-motherboards-system-boards/” is a not the best section to post , but I couldn’t find more relevant.
thank you very much for the comment and i am glad you found interest in my information. have a good day
I have two IBM ThinkPad motherboards one has a
black cpu socket and one is white .Can I use the same cpu in either one ?
i like your website - better help than hp
I like your post
do you have anything for asus?
I do not sell anything here but if you let me know what your looking for - I would be more then happy to help you the best I can and point you in the right direction.
Hi, ive been looking for this.
Thanks.
Recently my 1.2 gig HP 2133 (a great little machine while it worked) died - the motherboard is fried. While researching the issue online, many others have had the same problem. I would like to replace the motherboard with a different model - one not prone to failure. While I’m aware compatabilty may be an issue, the only parts I must salvage from 2133 are the screen and case.
Any suggestions for a (ideally cheap) motherboard that would fitting the bill?
Hey Nate. Unfortunately hp laptop motherboards are part number specific and you would need to get the same part number of your current board. Aside from nothing fittings, the chipsets have to be original or the computer will not POST. If you didn’t want to use the same motherboard 100%, I would buy a new laptop with the systemboard you want already inside instead of trying to mod your own into getting a working machine. The case would be a mess and unless you like it as a hobby, the time, work, price would be far more money than say searching ebay for the computer you want. Thanks for writing.
Hi,

hpw often in HP’s do similar models have compatible mobo’s? I have a tx1215nr and it seems the mobo part 441097-001 is good for all the tx1000 series. Also, the tx2000 series mobo has a different part# yet pics look very very similar. any thoughts??
also, our barebone AMD laptops -NO cpu, RAM, HDD, or OS as rare or expensive as it seems? I found varely little in research or it was really cost prohibitive.
any thoughts?
ted
you would need part number 448596-001 which is a “System boards (full-featured) - Equipped with a discrete graphics subsystem - Include thermal material”
I have HP DV2000 but the Vista regnize it as DV2500.
CPU T7300-2gig
GPU nvidia 8400 GS
Ram 2gig
S/N: 2CM730194K
P/N: RM922AAR # ABA
What is the Systemboard Part Number?
it seems the GPU chip is faulty. Is it possible to just repair the GPU chip or Graphic parts?
Thanks for your help in advance.
madjid
I found more detail about my laptop system board
HP DV2300
CPU Intel T7300
GPU nvidia 8400 GS
RAM 2GB
S/N 2cm730194k
P/N RM922AAR
System board 448596-001
Memory Module 452062-001
I want to know this system board is support the HDMI and iLink1394 or not?
Is this system board come with nvidia subsystem graphic type or ATI or Intel 9xx?
thank for helping me
madjid
The original laptop motherboard is 448596-001 but i think it would cost more fixing the gpu then just replacing the whole board. Up to you though.
If 448596-001 is in your laptop now then getting that exact part number will include HDMI or whatever you have at the moment. It is a Intel processor with nvidia chipset. HP told me “System boards (full-featured) - Equipped with a discrete graphics subsystem - Include thermal material”. I do not believe it uses ATI graphics.
I have a HP Pavilion DV6102OD laptop, and enjoy upgrading it whenever possible. What Mainboards are available for this that are faster? The part no. installed is 434723-001 (Intel T1350 1.86mHz with 945GM chipset)
Please give me my options! Thank you
hi
i have replaced a laptop motherboard.the motherboards are belong to the same model hp paviliion dv6500 but have different part number,449903-001 and 449902-001. it work fine.but unfortunately not very long around 4 hours operating, the laptop said(SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 4)i am not so sure is this issue due to replacing wrong part number or not.is someone in here have any idea?
I reblowing the GPU nvidia 8400GS on the 448596-001 system board of hp pavilion dv2300 and it is working till now. I added a quarter coin on the GPU for better cooling plus silicon paste.
the Youtube learnt me how to reblow the motherboard.

hi, my acer aspire 5520-5912 motherboard is faulty, have to replace. But its part no is ICW-50 LA-3581, but the model number printed on RAM slot is MBAJ702003. But people say that we have to get same model no as MBAJ702003. But i couldnt get one. But there are lots of other series like MBAJ702001,2002,2004 & MBAK302002,2003,2005 etc. But i am confused that if that will be compatible with MBAJ702003?
What should i do?
